Frequently Asked Questions

What is trauma therapy?

Trauma therapy is a specialized form of therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. It uses various evidence-based approaches to address both the emotional and physical impacts of trauma.

How long does therapy typically take?

The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some people may see significant improvement in a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term support. We'll work together to determine the best treatment timeline for your needs.

I am not sure what kind of trauma treatment I want. Is that okay?

Yes, definitely. Your therapist will go over their approaches with you and you will work together to identify a treatment plan specific to your needs and circumstances.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not directly bill insurance companies. Payment is due at each session and you will be provided with a receipt to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is primarily focused on getting to know you and understanding your needs. We'll discuss your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and ensure you feel comfortable.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. We adhere to strict privacy guidelines and PHIPA regulations. The only exceptions to confidentiality are cases where there is risk of harm to self or others, or cases of abuse that legally must be reported.

What is your session fee?

Our therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length (a therapy hour) and cost $180.

Do you offer lower cost or sliding scale sessions?

Yes, it is important to us that therapy is accessible. Most of our therapists are able to offer sliding scale fees. The consultation call is an excellent time to ask - or just email us! We want to help.
